The Netherlands launches a new toll system
From 1 July 2026, the Netherlands will introduce a kilometer-based truck toll system for both Dutch and foreign heavy goods vehicles (categories N2 and N3).
The current Eurovignette system in the Netherlands will be replaced by a pay-per-kilometer toll system, similar to the Belgian and German model.
The new toll rates will depend on:
- vehicle weight
- vehicle emission level
The toll will apply on most Dutch motorways and selected regional roads.
For container transport operations through the Netherlands, this change will influence transport pricing from July 2026 onwards.
Route Examples & Cost Impact
To provide greater transparency regarding the impact of the Dutch truck toll system, we have prepared the following maps illustrating examples of routes that may incur additional toll charges.
These maps are intended to give a general indication of potential toll costs on frequently used routes. Please note that the routes displayed may not be suitable for every transport. Actual toll charges can vary per transport route. All prices shown are indicative estimates and are non-binding.
